Triton recognized by Iowa Restaurant Association

Genbusiness006

Iowa Central Community College issued the following announcement.

Viktoria Grochut embarked on her culinary career in the rooms and classes that several current Iowa Central students are in today.

Grochut, who is the head chef at Cattlemen’s Steakhouse in Sac City, was recently honored as one of the Iowa Restaurant Association’s 40 Women to Watch in the Hospitality Industry.

Before her career in culinary, Grochut spent several years working as a dental assistant. With a family tradition in the food supply business, this was the right step.

“After spending years making people smile again and eat food without problems, I decided it was time to return to my hospitality roots,” Grochut said. “Iowa Central helped with having this wonderful culinary arts and hospitality management program with two of the best teachers you could ask for.”

Under the tutelage of Iowa Central’s culinary instructors, Grochut graduated with the highest score in school history. She also had a role in events at Willow Ridge Golf Course.

“Having the opportunity to create a customer experience that includes delicious food, good drinks and a great atmosphere is magical,” Grochut said. “At Willow Ridge, we were able to experience the industry, both front of house and back of house. All the events that Chef Michael (Hirst) and Chef Geoffrey (Phillipson) organized helped me to understand what the industry is about and what to prepare for mentally and physically.”

The honor from the Iowa Restaurant Association recognizes the creativity, leadership and contributions of women across all hospitality industry sectors. The first class included honorees from restaurants, bars, caterers, hospitality venues, purveyors, educational institutions, advocacy and tourism groups, and care facilities.
