Iowa Central Community College will welcome in over 100 businesses on Wednesday to its Fort Dodge campus for the Spring Career Fair.
Both students and members of the general public are welcome to attend the event, which runs from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. inside the Career Education Building. This is the second career fair, as one was also held in the fall.
“It’s a great opportunity,” said Jessica Kavanaugh, Iowa Central’s Career Services Coordinator. “It’s a great resource. Employers are looking to hire and are hungry right now.
“It’s definitely worth your time to take advantage of. It’s a great opportunity to network and to make connections so when you need them, you already have that relationship started.”
Kavanagh noted the importance of bringing a resume to the event along with dressing to “make a great first impression.”
“We have a good variety of business in the region,” she said. “Something for all of the different trades in the area.”
Companies recruiting employers in fields such as nursing, radiology, carpentry, engineering, accounting, business, criminal justice, marketing and more are all expected to be in attendance for the fair.
“Employers are more than happy to visit with individuals and talk about their companies,” Kavanagh said. “You can walk around and talk to the companies and see what positions they have, and if anything interests you.”
