Cross Country Donates to TRMC Cancer Center
Since 2007, The Iowa Central Cross Country Team has been racing to make life a little easier for individuals undergoing cancer treatment at Unity Point Health- Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
Members of the team sold T-shirts for $15 with proceeds going to their 16th Annual “Race to Erase Breast Cancer” efforts during the month of October, which is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They also hosted the Firecracker 5K run in Webster City in July with proceeds going toward the project.
The team presented a $2,500 Check to representatives from Unity Point Health Fort Dodge on March 20. Since 2007, the team has raised a total of $29,200 for the Norma Schmoker Cancer Center.
Proceeds from the fundraiser go toward meeting the needs of patients served at the cancer center.
“We use funds to assist patients who might have barriers toward receiving care whether that be assisting with getting them to treatment, gas cards, obtaining the equipment they need,” said Stephanie Koenig, Manager of Oncology and Infusion Services at TRMC. “It helps us best care for our patients making sure they can receive treatment and that we have the best, most modern equipment to treat them. We always appreciate the support.”
