Local school boards have re-evaluated the restrictions and regulations associated with COVID-19, KIOW reported.
The Garner Hayfield Ventura Community School District had a board meeting in the high school’s library back in September. While there, Superintendent Tyler Williams detailed why the board would talk about whether masks should be mandatory.
“The truth is we don’t have many kids that wear a mask. So if a person tests positive, then we contact trace [and] everybody who was within six feet of that person for 15 minutes or further, they’re quarantined for 14 days,” he said, according to KIOW. “If everyone is wearing a mask, then the only person that gets sent home isolated is the person that tested positive.”
Still, there are a few school districts that have already adapted mask mandate, including Forest City Community School. While the school board had a meeting for possible changes, the district has had to bow out for two weeks thanks to positive COVID-19 tests.
