At one point or other states throughout the nation have had to adjust their COVID-19 numbers to the public and Iowa now joins that list.
An error was discovered after the state was unintentionally attributing results to a person’s first test result. For example, they may have had a negative test in June and followed with a positive test in August. The state was unintentionally recording the person’s positive on the date of the first test in an effort not to duplicate test results, The Wright County Monitor reported.
The state became aware of the flaw in July but failed to address the discrepancy until it was brought to light by an independent media that was tracking the data.
"We have now adjusted the case reporting to reflect the most recent lab recording date, rather than the date of the first test result," Gov. Kim Reynolds said, The Wright County Monitor reported.
