An abandoned and rundown house in Webster City will have a new future as a result of City Council action Monday.
The council sold the house at 909 Harding Court to Mitchell Hansen, of Webster City, for $23,000. Hansen now has a year to repair the house and bring it into compliance with all relevant building codes.
The city government had taken possession of the house under the state’s abandoned buildings law.
Other bidders for the property were Jose Mendez, ($18,000) and Tom Yetmar ($1,000).
In other business, the council approved closing Second Street on the evening of July 19 for the Hamilton County Fair parade.
