On Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, the compost site at the Public Works facility will open to the general public. Please note
there is no commercial access to the Public Works compost site.
The following rules apply when using the compost site:
• Access is limited to all residents who live within the City limits and also pay for garbage service through the City.
• Pick-up trucks or trailers with loose yard waste and/or branches must be covered with a tarp to prevent items
from blowing out.
• Tree branches must be separated from the leaves/grass. Branches cannot be larger than 4” in diameter and 4’ in
length.
Hours are:
• 8:00 am until noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
• 8:00 am until 4:00 pm on Saturday
• Closed on Wednesday and holidays
Compost site hours may be affected by weather. In the event the site will not be opening, an announcement will be
made on the City’s Facebook page, @fortdodgeiowa.
To ensure uninterrupted operations, we are currently looking to hire one additional staff member for the compost site
2022 season. This is a part-time seasonal position that pays $10.00/hour. It would be fantastic for someone 18 years or
older looking to get outside for a few hours every week and supplement their income. Individuals interested in applying
