Iowa Central Community College recently issued the following announcement.
Iowa Central Community College recently hosted “Jam the Gym,” providing the opportunity for current high school juniors and seniors to take in the campus and be a part of the gameday atmosphere inside Hodges Fieldhouse.
For two lucky students, it was a special day.
Newton High School seniors Nate Maki and Riley Lester were both selected as full-tuition scholarship winners. It was the first time two students from the same high school were randomly drawn for the awards.
Several other prizes were handed out during the event, along with full campus tours and entertainment, including two basketball games complete with halftime excitement from Iowa Central Cheer, Dance and Band.
“‘Jam the Gym’ was a huge success even with the colder weather,” said Sara Scharf, Iowa Centra’s Director of Enrollment Management. “We hosted over 100 students and guests during the morning who then toured the campus, met with academics, learned more about student activities and financial aid, and took in the basketball games.
“It really was a great day and a wonderful way to show our incredible campus and school to future Tritons.”
