City of Webster City recently issued the following announcement.
The City Council of Webster City will be accepting applications for Webster City residents who might be interested in serving on the council.
Councilman Brian Miller submitted his resignation from the council at a Jan. 24 special meeting at city hall. Miller said he was resigning the seat due to the fact that he had moved outside of the city limits which meant he couldn’t serve on the council. The resignation is effective Feb. 8.
The City of Webster City will fill the vacancy by appointment during the regular City Council meeting on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m.
The electors of Webster City have the right, according to city officials, to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a special election. If electors wish to require a special election, a valid petition must be filed with the city clerk within 14 days of the official legal notice publication scheduled for Feb. 3. If no petition is filed, the appointment will move forward on Feb. 21.
Eligible electors from Webster City who wish to be considered for appointment are asked to submit a letter of interest to the City Clerk’s office, 400 Second St., Webster City, IA 50595 or by email to karyl_bonjour@webstercity.com by 5 p.m. Feb. 11.
