Cost of college went up for all students at Iowa Central Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.8 percent for 2018-19 at Iowa Central Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Iowa residents paid $5,490 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $150 more than the $5,340 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 43.7 percent more than residents this year, or $7,890. Their price tag grew 2.9 percent from $7,665 in 2017-18.

About 70 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Iowa residents. About 23 percent are residents of other states and 6 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,048 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.1 million and 701 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.6 million.

Including all undergraduates (5,390), 2,876 students used grants or scholarships totaling $14.7 million, and 2,046 students took out $11.8 million in federal student loans.
