The increase in COVID-19 cases in Wright County is the result of increased testing and contact tracing, Wright County Supervisor Karl Helgevold told the Wright County Monitor.

“Our (Wright County’s) numbers are up because we’re kicking every rock right now. More testing results in more positive findings, but that can be a positive thing in helping to identify people and then stopping their contact and potentially the spread of the virus,” Helgevold said.

After three people in the county tested positive for COVID-19, the county conducted contact tracing and “pop-up testing” in Clarion and Eagle Grove, the story said.

Anyone testing positive is quarantined, the Monitor said. Anyone living in the same household as the infected person, who has been exposed to them for more than 15 minutes or been less than six feet away,  is also quarantined, the Monitor reported.

“That’s the aggressive stance we are taking in fighting this, so with more testing means more possible positive results,” Helgevold said.
