A series of violations landed Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Special Focus Facility Program.

State records hold the nursing home responsible for a patient’s death, for hiring an unauthorized nurse and for failure to protect patients from harassment and sexual abuse. The nursing home is also reported to be under severe financial strain, according to KCCI News.

Other investigation reports brought to surface the gross mismanagement at the nursing home, including overdue bills and unavailability of oxygen tanks.

The main purpose of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Special Focus Facility Program is to enhance the quality of services that these nursing homes provide.

New leadership will lead the nursing home under this program. The nursing home has also been provided with up-to-date Medicare equipment and the training of the nursing staff is underway to improve the overall performance of the facility.
